Fólkvangr – Freyja’s Field. A snippet from The She of We.
By P.B. Phillips
Freyja's Field
Heaven’s blossom lights crags, in the mountains of the Norse.
Tiny trader boats ripple lake, leaving echoes of their course.
Freyja atop the fjord, during Winter’s deep vacation.
Via trusted eagle’s eye, she surveys from distant hibernation.
In a modest cottage, wrapped in blankets, huddled by the fire.
A lonely soul offers a prayer, to She who is higher.
*
“Goddess of eternal life, who walks in lofty fields above.”
“Please descend to shore and return to me our love.”
“It lays in a buried home, hid from North wind’s blast.”
“I pray for you to grant, the tender joy of our past.”
“When sun rises higher, reborn from southern climes.”
“Ever will I greet thee, with praise and ancient rhymes.”
*
Life has its endless cycle, driven by the love of future past.
Day always follows night, the first shall be the last.
All know the stars do turn, and time will take its toll.
Faith allows the separated, the dream of being whole.
Freyja will drift down the mountain, in the Springtime set to come.
Only when She does so, will departed souls reunite, be together; one.
