Sedna
By P.B. Phillips

‘Sedna. Be your own master’, Her mother said,

‘Sip this drink and you’ll choose who and when you’ll wed’.

‘Let not your father force a husband on thee.’

Sedna took her mothers words to heart, and vowed to stay chased and free.

‘You’ll do as I command’ her father’s word was law.

But Sedna stole a kayak and headed far from the shore.

Evil father called on the Gods, to bring a mighty storm.

Sedna terrified and exhausted from her boat was torn.

Grasping for dear life holding as tight as she did.

Her fingers were torn away and below the waves she slid.

With magic, Sedna’s fingers became all the monsters of the deep.

Her rage against mankind grew and grew and never does it sleep.
