A Letter to Santa
By P.B. Phillips
Dear Father Christmas,
I hope you and Mrs. Claus are both well and very happy.
I write to you with all sincerity, not beggy, crawly, or sappy.
I was naughty this year, I know I performed well below par.
I think it was because I emptied, almost every bar.
To atone, I promise I’ll be extra good for the next twelve months.
Even during an election, I won’t call politicians, a bunch of selfish little runts.
For a gift this year I would like, not that much at all.
I’ll leave it to your good judgement, to make the final call.
But If I have a vote, I’d like, just a little peace of mind.
A few hours free from being alone and for someone to be kind.
I expect I’ve not really earned it, I know I’m a hateful sod.
I talk kind of grumpy, and act a little odd.
But if you see your way clear, to deliver me, even just a little bit of love.
I will fall down on my knees, clasp my hands, and thank the Lord above.
Your Servant Sir
E. Scrooge.
